At the heart of the new Berges de Reims park, the De-Gaulle road bridge is replaced by a pedestrian and bicycle bridge, designed by NU Architecture & Ingénierie. The 70s concrete structure has been replaced by a thin metal walkway, with a mirror-polished stainless steel structure that blends into its surroundings, reflecting the ambient light. Discreet recessed lighting at the top of the footbridge is diffused from the handrails, creating a soft glow throughout the walkway. On the banks of the Canal, the lighting is also subtly integrated in the underside, creating a warm, enveloping effect. Respecting the surrounding biodiversity and meet both safety and dynamic needs were the main project purpose.
