Former prison of the 19th century, prisons St Joseph and St Paul, located in the heart of Lyon, are part of a large urban renewal plan: the Catholic University settles in prison St Paul, while St Joseph becomes a tertiary and residential site. Mixed with new contemporary architectures, the preserved historical buildings are bathed in white tones. Arcades lining the courtyards are subtely highlighted, while the courtyards are illuminated by light projections. At the heart of the site, the old rotunda is lighted in cold white. From the opposite bank of the Rhone, the facade becomes a signal along the river.
